Luiss is moving to the cloud

Project to migrate email to the Microsoft Office365 cloud

Thanks to an agreement with Microsoft, Luiss has adopted the Office 365 cloud platform, which provides the following products:

  • Exchange Online for email, calendar and contacts
  • OneDrive for sharing documents even outside the Luiss domain
  • Lync for instant messaging and video calls

The platform is available to all students as well as faculty and administrative staff.

Cloud e-mail allows you to manage your email inbox, which has a 50 Gb capacity, and to synchronize all mobile devices (smartphones, tablets and notebooks) with your email, calendar and contacts (to find out more, read the Outlook365 Guide).

With OneDrive (formerly Skydrive), you can archive documents, photos, videos and much more on the cloud, which can be shared with other users outside the university’s network. Users get a TeraByte of space (to find out more, read the OneDrive365 Guide).

Lync (an application you can download on your device) provides online messaging via internet as well as video conferencing, which can interface with Skype as well as other capabilities on multiple devices such as PCs, iOS and Android phones. In addition, the new Lync app for Windows 8 and RT ensures an intuitive and immersive user experience (to find out more read the Lync365 Guide).

Here are some features and advantages of the new platform:

  • Users can access email, calendars and contacts from anywhere via web from computers, tablets or smartphones;
  • Inboxes start at 50 GB, are perfectly compatible with Outlook, and can send attachments as large as 25 MB.

Documentation detailing its functionality will be available online in this section, and the entire IT services staff will be available to help users in this critical and important phase, as we transition to the new platform.


Each Luiss Account, associated to a username in one of the formats below, allows access to Microsoft 365 Cloud Services:


Please note that students are granted an account only after registration. For teaching staff and administration, accounts are assigned through their offices.

To change your password

To change a password, click here. Passwords may only be modified on a Windows Pc connected to one of the Luiss Active Directory dominions. The new password will be valid immediately for access to all related services.

Professors and university lecturers

Professors who would like to open a Luiss email account can do so by using a downloadable form. They will need to print it, fill it out, and send it to the IT services office (Viale Romania 32, Fax 06 85225930).

The account will be activated within 48 hours. Written notification will be sent via internal mail to the person making the request, with the credentials they will need to access their email account (user ID, password and email address).

Administrative staff

All administrative personnel will be assigned an office email account.
