Taking Care of Competition. The Pharmaceutical Industry Between Law and Profit (Luiss University Press, 2019), through a series of case studies from the USA, EU and Italy, the books tells the parallel-yet-connected stories of the incredible scientific, industrial and cultural endeavor behind the development of increasingly safe and efficient drugs, and the obsession with profit that, violating antitrust laws, has overtaken health concerns. The authors introduce readers to the concept of competition and accompany them in world of contemporary pharmaceuticals, touching on the anti-competition strategies that shape it. Protecting competition has proven to be effective in obtaining good market functions, and could contribute to wider access to essential pharmaceuticals and the respect of fundamental rights.
