Published by Passigli Editori, the book examines banking monitoring systems on the European and national levels. The research was performed by the Cunsulting Center of Università di Roma Tre, led by Stefano Lucchini and Andrea Zoppini.
Current legislation charges the Central European Bank with such monitoring, through a Single Supervisory Mechanism, a fundamental role and considerable discretion in matters of prudential supervision, with inspections and sanctions against credit institutions. At the same time, certain powers and prerogatives of the competent national supervisory authorities remain. It is this connection of functions that leads us to consider the relationship between the ECB and national central banks in the context of the regulation of the European banking market.
