Sustainability and Social Innovation

The program presents and discusses central concepts in sustainability theory, including social and responsible innovation, and exposes students to hands-on work in selected domains of sustainability practice as pursued by various agents in the city of Rome.

Particular attention is devoted to the role of principled and creative business. The program is enriched by the experience and workshop activities of practitioners engaged in innovative sustainability practices or ventures. 

The program is made up of two independent modules, which can be taken separately or combined.

The program is articulated in two combinable modules, the first emphasizing the role of principled business management for sustainability, the second emphasizing responsible business innovation in view of sustainability, particularly in urban contexts.

A typical working day consists of a three-hour morning lecture, followed by a three-hour workshop or laboratory activity, organized and led by the lecturer/expert, with the aim of putting the theoretical concepts to immediate practical use.

Students get involved in hands on activities within the city of Rome and/or small-scale projects proposed by lecturers/experts or practitioners.
