This page describes the operating procedures followed by the Luiss Guido Carli website for processing the personal data of users who consult the site.

Pursuant to article 10 of Law No. 675 of 31 December 1996, this notice is also provided to those who interact with the university Internet services that are accessible electronically through the following address:, i.e. the home page of the university’s official website.

This notice is provided exclusively for the university website and not for other websites the user may choose to consult through links.

The contents of this notice also follow Recommendation 2/2001 adopted on 17 May 2001, by the European authorities for the protection of personal data assembled in the group established by article 29 of Directive 95/46/EC, laying down some of the minimum requirements for the collection of personal data online and, in particular, the procedures, timing and nature of the information that the data controllers must provide to users when the latter are connected to the Internet pages, regardless of the reasons for connecting to them.

Data regarding identified or identifiable persons may be processed as a result of consulting this site. The data controller is Luis Guido Carli, with headquarters at Viale Pola 12, 00198 Rome, Italy.

Data processing connected with the Internet services of this site takes place at the aforesaid university headquarters and is conducted exclusively by the technical staff of the office responsible for data processing, or by persons so assigned during occasional maintenance work.

No information obtained from the Internet service is communicated or circulated.

The personal data provided by users who forward requests for the mailing of information is used solely to perform the requested service and are notified to third parties only in the event that this is necessary for said purpose.

Navigation data

As part of their normal operation, the IT systems and software procedures set up for the operation of this website acquire personal data whose transmission is an implicit part of the use of Internet communication protocols.

This data is not collected to be associated with the identified interested parties but because of its very nature such data can, through processing and association with data held by third parties, allow one to identify the user..

This category of data includes IP addresses or the domain names of the computers of users who connect to the site, the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numeric code indicating the status of the response provided by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters related to the user’s operating system and IT environment.

Such data is used solely for the purpose of obtaining anonymous statistical information about site use and monitoring proper operation, and is erased immediately after processing. The data may be used to ascertain liability in the event of hypothetical computer crimes damaging the site: with the exception of this possibility, currently the data concerning Internet contacts do not remain for more than seven days.

Data volunteered by the user

The optional, express and voluntary submission of e-mail to the addresses indicated on this site entails the subsequent obtaining of the sender’s address, which is required in order to respond to requests, as well as other personal data that may be part of the message.

Specific information summaries will progressively be reported or displayed on the web pages set up for particular on-demand services.

The site does not obtain any personal data from users in this regard.

Cookies are not used for the transmission of personal information, nor does the site use persistent cookies (i.e. systems for tracing users).

The use of session cookies (which are not memorised in the user’s computers and disappear when the browser is closed) is limited exclusively to the transmission of session ID information (composed of random numbers generated by the server) required to permit secure and efficient exploration of the site.

The session cookies used by this site make it possible to avoid using other IT methods that could potentially be detrimental to the confidentiality of user navigation; these session cookies do not permit acquisition of the user’s identifying personal data.

In addition to the above specifications regarding navigation data, the user is free to provide the personal data indicated in the request forms to be submitted to Luiss Guido Carli.

Failure to provide this information may make it impossible to fulfil such requests.

Personal data is processed with automated instruments for the amount of time strictly required to achieve the purposes for which they were collected.

Specific security measures are observed to prevent the loss of said data, illegal or improper use, and unauthorised access.

The parties to whom the personal data refers have the right, at any time, to obtain confirmation of the existence of said data and to learn their content and origin, verify their accuracy or request their completion, update or rectification (article 13 of Law 675/1996).

For the purposes of this article, said parties have the right to request the cancellation, transformation into an anonymous form or blocking of any data processed unlawfully, or to object to their processing for legitimate reasons.

Requests must be submitted to Luiss Guido Carli.

Given the technical developments of this field and of the instruments that permit the protection of privacy on the Internet, Luiss Guido Carli undertakes to periodically update this document, which represents the Privacy Policy of this website.
