Students resident/living and studying abroad exempted from sitting the university admission test
The exemption from sitting the admission test applies solely to the Major in International Relations taught in English and is limited to the following categories of students:
- 10 places for EU students (citizens of Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and the Republic of San Marino are included for such purposes) resident/living abroad and enrolled at universities located abroad where they will obtain their final qualification;
- 10 places for non-EU students resident abroad (foreign contingent) enrolled at universities located abroad where they will obtain their final qualification.
Procedure and Selection Criteria
Students exempted from sitting the admission test who wish to do the Major in International Relations taught in English must fill out the relevant application form between 11 January and 21 April 2010 and at the same time send the following documentation to the Student Office (Segreteria Studenti, Luiss Guido Carli, Viale Romania 32, 00197 Rome, Italy):
- a certificate showing the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) scores in each of the prescribed three sections:
- Verbal
- Quantitative
- Analytical Writing Assessment
For more information on the test visit www.gmac.comand www.ets.org.
- Certificate of university enrolment specifying the exams passed, translated into Italian and duly legalised by the local Italian diplomatic authorities in the country concerned.
- Final school leaving qualification. If this has been awarded abroad, it must be duly translated and legalised and be accompanied by a statement of equivalent value issued by the local Italian diplomatic authorities in the country concerned. It should be borne in mind that pursuant to Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) regulations, school leaving qualifications awarded abroad grant access to an Italian university only if they:
- have been awarded by schools officially recognised by the foreign country's education system;
- entitle the student to enrol in universities of the country that awarded them;
- have been awarded on completion of a minimum of 12 years of overall schooling (primary and secondary education).
- the certificate evidencing passing of an academic suitability test, if such is required for access to local universities in the country concerned.
- a curriculum vitae
- a letter of motivation
Solely applications accompanied by the above documentation that arrive by 21 April 2010 will be considered.
A special exam commission will assess the documentation sent by every single candidate and will rank them based on GMAT/GRE scores, school and university record, and age. Candidates will be admitted on a provisional basis to their chosen degree course, which will become final once the candidate has obtained the final qualification from their university of origin and the originals of the documentation reach the Student Office (Segreteria Studenti) together with a statement of equivalent value.
Students who are declared admitted will be so informed by e-mail and sent the forms required to complete enrolment by and no later than 15 July 2010.
For all information relating to one's academic qualifications, students should contact the Italian authorities in the country in which the qualifications were awarded.
