February 23-25, 2017, Toronto hosted the fourteenth annual Rotman International Trading Competition, the most important international applied finance games.
The LUISS Blue Team, now participating for its eighth consecutive year, took third place after its silver medal in 2016 and victories in 2015 and 2014. The team however placed first in the Options Trading event during the second day of the competiton.
Members of the 2017 team are captain Matteo di Iorio, Berardo Maria Angelini, Marco Bruno, Gino Darino, Gabriele Maria Oliviero and Graziano Piredda. All students were selected and prepared by Emilio Barone, professor of Stock Market Economics for the Department of Economics and Finance, directed by Professor Stefano Manzocchi.
The LUISS Blue Team scored a total of 47.1 points, 90.6% of the total possible points and higher than the 86.2% that brought home the gold in 2014.
This year’s winners were Baruch College, followed by the University of Calgary and LUISS. Other top performers were HEC Montreal, the University of Waterloo and Laval. Additional competitors included Chicago, Columbia, New York University and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, the only other Italian university.
