The core course in Public Speaking is a brief course lasting 12 hours, concentrated in a day and a half: we begin on Friday afternoon, continuing for a full day on Saturday, and finishing it knowing that we have not just acquired the tools for expressing ourselves and communicating better, but that we have rediscovered man’s innate and natural abilities, which we often undervalue, not knowing how to use them correctly.
It starts with the notion that we are all, in some way, public communicators, as we live immersed in a world of relationships and encounters. Giving a speech, taking an exam, introducing yourself or presenting a work project: many think that these activities do not require specific training. We rely on good luck, or our cultural background. But often, even authoritative personalities have an awkward, boring or unremarkable way of speaking in public.
Are you a student? The moment will come when you will have to present a paper in the classroom. Are you part of an association, or do you volunteer? Sooner or later you will be asked to voice your opinion at a meeting.
And when you become a professional? A life full of conferences, presentations, and dinners awaits you.
Speaking in public is no longer a special discipline – reserved for politicians, lawyers and religious authorities – but rather an everyday experience for everyone. Public Speaking is not a series of tricks to become a rhetorician. It is a journey of self-discovery, to become more self-assured and natural in everyday life.
We will learn that that feelings don’t necessarily need to be overcome and repressed, but rather transformed and channeled into positive energy. We will learn to show others who we really are, and we will feel more genuine and more effective.
In our course, practice with the professor, with trainers and with colleagues, comes before theory. Starting with the first few minutes of the class, we are immersed in a practical and dynamic experience.
