Research Project Proposal ANCIEN (Assessing Needs of Care In European Nations)
It is our pleasure to announce that the research project proposal ANCIEN (Assessing Needs of Care In European Nations), submitted in occasion of the second call under the FP7-HEALTH Cooperation Programme, from LUISS research group, has been favourably evaluated by the European Commission experts. The ANCIEN project was ranked second out of the 18 projects submitted in this area, scoring 14/15 across all the evaluation criteria. The project is now entering the negotiation phase and will be operative presumably this November 2008. The objectives of ANCIEN are to review the Long Term Care (LTC) systems in EU member states, to assess the actual and future numbers of elderly care-dependent people in selected countries and to develop a methodology for comprehensive analysis of actual and future LTC needs and provisions across European countries, including the potential role of technology and policies on maintaining and improving quality. Performance indicators will be identified and relative performances of the different types of LTC systems assessed.
